Selency: How to Buy Without Getting It Wrong
Europe's largest online flea market. How to hunt smart, vet a seller, haggle, and spot the real find.
1 MIN · 3 OBJECTS IDENTIFIEDSelency put the flea market in your phone: thousands of vintage pieces, delivered. You still have to know how to buy. The manual.
Reading a listing
Check the dimensions (always), the condition as described (“jus” means unrestored, in its original state), the photos from several angles, and the distinction between period and style. Ask for photos of the maker's mark.
Haggling
Selency lets you make an offer: 10–20 % is worth trying without giving offence. Pieces that have been listed a long time are the most negotiable.
Spotting the real find
The true gems go fast (a Jeanneret in under an hour). Set up search alerts, favour the rated professional sellers, and buy the documented piece rather than the “in the style of”.
Before you buy: run the photo through Beyit to confirm the identification and the fair price.
One photo, every piece identified.
Your room, a shop window, an inspiration screenshot: send the photo, we find the pieces and their alternatives at every price.
The pieces, at your budget.
Every piece mentioned, with its alternatives — from vintage to dupe.
