KONSTRUNDA: IKEA Sells Art from €19.99

Twenty-two objects, seven makers, mouth-blown glass and pine sculptures: KONSTRUNDA lands in stores on 1 September. What it changes, and what it doesn't replace.

2 MIN · 1 OBJECT IDENTIFIED

The Swedish word konstrunda refers to those open-studio tours where you drift from painter to ceramicist on a spring Sunday. It is the name IKEA has given its limited-edition art collection: twenty-two objects by seven makers, in stores and online from 1 September 2026.

Twenty-two objects, not a range

No sofa, no storage: KONSTRUNDA serves no function. Mouth-blown glass, ceramics, rugs, mirrors, tapestries, side tables, pine sculptures — the collection is made of objects you buy because you look at them. IKEA puts it plainly: art shouldn't be a luxury reserved for galleries. The opening prices announced start at €19.99.

The seven voices

Akanksha Deo, an in-house IKEA designer, signs a series of “companion” pieces. Emanuele Stamuli delivers black-and-white objects with totemic shapes. The Swedish artist Lisa Reiser works glass, ceramic and metal with a declared taste for imperfect finishes. Lisa Hilland holds the thread between industrial production and studio craft. Ingrid Leander and Igor Holtermann, the youngest, have set their layered-palm motifs on cotton cushion covers, a rug and a mirror. Andu Masebo, who came through joinery, metalwork and ceramics, brings the rawest part of the whole.

What it says about the market

IKEA spent fifteen years taking on furniture icons; the brand is now taking on the signed decorative object — the segment where the price gap is most violent. A designer vase in blown glass commonly trades between €200 and €900 at an editor's; here, the same intention drops below €50. The series is limited, which is the real novelty: IKEA borrows the art market's mechanics of scarcity, not just its vocabulary.

The Paris appointment

In France, the collection comes with a pop-up at the IKEA Paris Rivoli store from 10 to 13 September — right in the middle of Paris Design Week, which occupies the city from 10 to 19 September. The timing is no accident: in the week Paris watches design, the most democratic piece of furniture in the world presents itself in a gallery.

What it doesn't replace

A limited edition at €19.99 is still a limited edition produced in hundreds of thousands of copies. The collection competes neither with independent studios nor with collectors' pieces: it opens a door, and the next question — which object is worth thirty euros, which is worth three hundred and why — remains wide open. That is exactly where the difference between decorating and choosing plays out.

Where to see it

The collection reaches stores and ikea.com on 1 September 2026. The official page is already live — it will fill up on launch day.
