The Beyit iPhone app, explained: point at a piece, it has a name and an address

What the app does beyond the site, what it watches for you, and why there is no Android yet. Free, no account.

The app opens on the camera. You point at an armchair in a café, a lamp at a friend's, a shelf in a shop window. It has a name, and an address where to find it. Since 17 September, Beyit fits in your pocket.

What it does

The same as the site's scan, from the camera. You can also pick an image from your photo library: a Pinterest or Instagram screenshot works very well. It detects several pieces per photo, and returns four versions for each: the original, the vintage, the mid-range, the low price. And from Photos, Safari, Instagram or Pinterest, "Share to Beyit" sends the image straight into the app.

What it watches

Save a piece, Beyit watches it. A notification when the price drops, or when a vintage example reappears somewhere. That is the reason to install the app rather than open the site: the site cannot warn you, the app can.

What you need

An iPhone on iOS 15 or later. No account to scan, no card. The app is free.

And on Android

There is no Android version yet. On Android, scanning is done from the site, in the browser, with the same results.

On an iPhone? Install the Beyit app, it is free.

The Beyit scan

One photo, every piece identified.

Your room, a shop window, an inspiration screenshot: send the photo, we find the pieces and their alternatives at every price.

On iPhone, the app does the same from your camera.
